POPLARVILLE, Miss. -- Pearl River Community College is celebrating one of its own as Assistant Director of Institutional Research Dr. Timothy Dedeaux has accepted the role of President of the Mississippi Association for Institutional Research.
“This position is important to me because I’ve seen how much goes into making the MAIR conference successful this year as I served as vice president,” Dedeaux said. “I’ve also seen how much the conference means to people, myself included, especially during the difficult times we’re in now.
“Moving the 2020 conference from face-to-face to virtual, instead of cancelling it as many other conferences have done, was extremely important to a lot of people, and I’m so proud of our whole team for making it happen.
Dedeaux has been working at Pearl River since 2012. He started in the position of Title 3 Data Analyst and Information Systems Developer before transitioning into his current position as Assistant Director of Institutional Research and Office of Student Success Data Analyst.
Dedeaux holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and History from Mississippi College, a Master of Arts in History from Tulane University, a Master of Science in Instructional Technology from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Doctor of Philosophy in Instructional Technology and Design with a minor in Research and Statistics from the University of Southern Mississippi.
He is active in the Council on Institutional Research & Effectiveness, MAIR and Pearl River’s internal Wildcat Banner Users Group.
MAIR provides professional development and networking opportunities for Institutional Research and Effectiveness professionals within the state of Mississippi, with a few out-of-state members. MAIR helps increase community and communication among IR and IE professionals across state across the usual two-year/ four-year and private/public boundaries
The presidential role is an executive position that rotates on a three year cycle. Dedeaux was elected vice president at the 2019 conference. At the 2020 conference, he automatically became president and at the 2021 conference, he will become past president. His duties will end at the 2022 conference.
“Dr. Tim Dedeaux has been serving the Mississippi Association for Institutional Research (MAIR) as vice-president/program chair,” MAIR Past President Dr. Mitzi Norris said. “In this role, he organized the presentations for our 2020 annual meeting and identified a location for the 2021 meeting.
“When the COVID-10 pandemic occurred, he was effective in moving our meeting to a virtual platform that was very successful. I am excited that he will be leading MAIR.”
Dedeaux’s new role will require him to organize the venue for the 2021 conference and coordinate with the other officers on conference presenters and webinars
“I feel fortunate that PRCC has encouraged and enabled me to attend conferences and participate in organizations like MAIR,” Dedeaux said. “The things I’ve learned from MAIR conferences and from my fellow MAIR members have made me more effective in my roles at The River.”
