Columbia welding class offered

  POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College will offer a welding course at night during the spring 2016 semester in Columbia.
  The class will meet from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 19 through May 31, at the welding shop at the Carl Loftin Career and Technology Center, 1140 Highway 13 South in Columbia.
  The course offers an industry recognized certificate in welding, including applications for 10-hour OSHA certification, for basic lift truck operator OSHA certification and for NCCER credentials in Core Curriculum Introductory Craft Skills and Level I and II welding modules. Cost is $250.
  Applicants must be 18 before class starts and must provide welding shield, gloves and cap, steel-toed shoes, long sleeve shirt, ear plugs and safety classes.
  Applications can be obtained from Cheryl Frierson by calling 601 403-1113, beginning Jan. 4. The application must be submitted along with a clean drug screen at the applicant’s expense and a receipt from the PRCC business office in Poplarville for the $250 fee to Sheila Smith at the Career Education Building on the Poplarville campus.
