Graduates receive diplomas, certificates

  POPLARVILLE - Pearl River Community College awarded degrees and certificates on Friday, May 13, to students who completed their courses of study during the summer 2015, fall 2015 and spring 2016 semesters.
  Graduation was held in the Marvin R. White Coliseum on the Poplarville campus with alumna Karen Ladner Moore as guest speaker.
  Students received either the associate in arts or the associate in applied science degree or the certificate of proficiency.

Awards presented at Forrest County Center

  The Forrest County Center of Pearl River Community College presented awards to top students on May  2.
  The Citizenship Award went to Jamie Massengale of Hattiesburg.
  Members of the Beta Tau Gamma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa were recognized for the Distinguished Chapter Award received during NerdNation, PTK's international convention, held in April. Beta Tau Gamma was one of 20 chapters to receive the award.

Go-Cub-Wild camp registration extended

  POPLARVILLE - Registration for two Go-Cub-Wild kids’ day camps at Pearl River Community College has been extended to Monday, June 20, the first day of camp.
  The camps will be held Monday, June 20, through Thursday, June 23. Fee is $50.
  Camp t-shirts can not be guaranteed for those who register after Wednesday, May 25.
  A morning camp for students entering first, second and third grades will be from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at Shivers Gym. The afternoon camp for students entering fourth, fifth and sixth grades will be from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the gym.

PRCC Alumni Golf Tournament June 4

     POPLARVILLE   Pearl River Community College's Forrest Lamar County Alumni Association is hosting its annual scholarship golf tournament Saturday, June 4 at Pine Creek Golf Club in Purvis. Proceeds go to provide tuition scholarships at PRCC for Forrest and Lamar county students.
     The entry fee for the four person scramble is $60, which includes greens fee, cart, prizes and lunch. Hole sponsorship is $100. All alumni, friends, faculty and staff are invited to participate. Tee time will be 7:30 a.m.

Graduation marks educational milestone

  POPLARVILLE - Pearl River Community College lays the educational foundation for lifelong success, speaker Karen Ladner Moore told graduates Friday, May 13.
  Moore, a 1985 graduate, has wonderful memories from her two years at Pearl River, which has been the higher educational beginning for 11 members of her family.
  “It is indeed a pleasure to be back home at Pearl River Community College,” Moore said. “You have reached a huge milestone. It was 31 years ago that I sat where you are today.”

Hancock Center registering for summer

  Registration for summer classes at the Hancock Center of Pearl River Community College is underway.
  The center, located at 454 Highway 90 in Waveland, is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  Summer night classes begin Monday, May 23, and meet from 6 to 10 p.m. They include English II on Mondays, world civilization I on Tuesdays, college algebra on Wednesdays and statistics on Thursdays. Night classes will meet on the Memorial Day holiday, Monday, May 30.
