Dedeaux elected PRCC board chairman

     POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College’s Board of Trustees has elected new officers for the next two years.
     Alan Dedeaux, of Kiln, a Hancock County representative on the 16-member governing board since 2008, takes over as chairman. Dedeaux is the Hancock County School District’s superintendent of education.

OneVoice to headline concert at PRCC

POPLARVILLE - A statewide choral conference hosted by Pearl River Community College will conclude with a concert headlined by OneVoice, a high school a cappella choir.
Several high school groups and PRCC’s The Voices ensemble will also sing during the concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the Brownstone Center in Poplarville.

PRCC athletes produce top results in fall semester

POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College athletes had a tremendous semester in the classroom this past fall, with four of the school’s eight sports boasting a team grade-point average over 3.0.
“Over the past year-and-a-half, we have stressed the importance of academic accountability with our coaches,” said PRCC athletic director Jeff Long.
“We are extremely proud of what our student-athletes have been able to accomplish, and our coaches deserve a lot of credit for emphasizing the importance of academics to our athletes.”

PRCC sets open registration dates

POPLARVILLE - Open registration for new students at Pearl River Community College and returning students who have not already registered for the spring semester will be held the first week of January.
Registration will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at the Hancock Center in Waveland; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at the Forrest County Center in Hattiesburg; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5.
Day and night classes begin Monday, Jan. 8.
Offices at all PRCC campuses are closed until Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Alumni House named for Verlene Cole

  POPLARVILLE - The offices of the Pearl River Community College Development Foundation and Alumni Association have been named in honor of Verlene Cole of Oak Grove.
College officials announced the decision Dec. 7 at a dinner sponsored by the Development Foundation.
  “She means the world to us,” said foundation director Ernie Lovell.
  Cole, 85, was a Pearl River student in 1949-51.
  “You will live on our campus forever,” PRCC President Dr. Adam Breerwood told Cole. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
  The announcement took Cole by surprise.

Associate degree nursing students receive pins

  POPLARVILLE - Thirty eight associate degree nursing students at Pearl River Community College received pins and diplomas Monday, Dec. 11, in a ceremony at the Brownstone Center for the Arts.
  They are now eligible to take the licensure exam to be registered nurses.
  “You have earned the right to be here,” said Dr. Karen Baxter, ADN department chair. “No one gave you this.”

All PRCC Campuses will open at noon on 12/8/17. Final Exams scheduled for 8am will begin at 12pm. Final Exams scheduled for 10am will begin at 2pm. Any student unable to test at the new times will need to communicate with his or her instructor to establish a specific time for testing. Follow PRCC social media and the PRCC website for updates.
