PRCC's accreditation reaffirmed

  POPLARVILLE - Pearl River Community College today received notification of reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
  Reaffirmation occurs every 10 years and is intended to assure constituents and the public of the quality and integrity of the institution.

  Pearl River Community College will offer a certified nursing assistant course at the Jefferson Davis County Career and Technical Center in Carson.
  The class will meet from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning July 12 and ending Sept. 29.
  Only eight students will be accepted. Students must be 18 before July 12 and provide their own maroon uniforms.
  Cost for the course is $275 and includes a workbook and fee for the state licensing examination.

Welding class to be held in Columbia

  A welding course is being offered by Pearl River Community College at the Carl Loftin Career and Technology Center in Columbia.
  The course will meet from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, beginning Aug. 2 and ending Dec. 7. Cost is $250.
  Students will earn an industry recognized certificate in welding, including applications for 10-hour OSHA certification, basic lift truck operator OSHA certification and NCCER credentials in introductory craft skills core curriculum and Level I and II welding.

  POPLARVILLE - Registration for summer classes at all Pearl River Community College campuses will continue through Friday, June 3.
  First-term classes begin Monday, June 6, and end Wednesday, June 29.
  Second-term classes begin Thursday, June 30, and end Wednesday, July 27.

PRCC hosts agritourism workshop

  POPLARVILLE - Farmers, ranchers and others making a living in agriculture picked up information on marketing their products and operations during a two-day workshop hosted by Pearl River Community College.
  The marketing workshop was co-sponsored by the Mississippi State University Extension Service, the Stennis Institute for Government, Southern Risk Management Education Center and the Center for Louisiana Studies.
  Classroom sessions focused on using strategic marketing and targeted technology, such as websites and social media, to grow a business.

Apply now for Summer Bridge program

  POPLARVILLE - Applications are being accepted by Student Support Services at Pearl River Community College for the 11th annual Summer Bridge to College Program, also known as START. 
  START stands for Students Transitioning to Academic Success and Responsibilities at The community college. The program will run from 8 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, through Thursday, July 28, on the Poplarville campus.
  Students eligible for Student Support Services will earn up to 9 college credits while learning skills to help them be successful in the community college setting.

Share a Coke, share your story and win FREE tuition for a year.  Hattiesburg Coca-Cola and Pearl River Community College want to help with FREE TUITION FOR A YEAR at PRCC. We want to hear your story. Tell us about your dream to succeed. There are two ways to enter. (1)  Write a brief essay, or (2) create a short video and upload it to your YouTube account. In the space provided on Contest Entry form, submit your Essay or the link to your YouTube video.  Be open, honest, and most importantly, be creative. Your essay/video will be reviewed by a panel of judges and a winner will be selected.
