Tickets on sale for magician's show

  POPLARVILLE - Tickets are on sale for the Oct. 24 appearance of magician and illusionist Mike Super at Pearl River Community College.
  The show begins at 7 p.m. in the Ethel Holden Brownstone Center for the Arts on the Poplarville campus.
  Super is the winner of the NBC show, Phenomenon.
  Reserved orchestra level seats are $25 and reserved balcony seats are $20. Tickets can be purchased through www.brownpapertickets.com or by calling 601 403-1180.

Sign up now for Hancock Center welding class

  Pearl River Community College will offer a night welding class at the Hancock Center in Waveland during the spring 2018 semester.
  The class will meet from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, starting Jan. 8 and ending April 30.
  Cost is $250 with $50 due with the application and the remaining $200 by the first day of class.

Guy Penrod tickets on sale

  POPLARVILLE - Tickets are on sale for the Sept. 25 Guy Penrod Live concert at Pearl River Community College.
  The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the Ethel Holden Brownstone Center for the Arts on the Poplarville campus.
  Penrod is one of the most in-demand touring artists in Christian music. A vocal powerhouse, he travels throughout the U.S. and abroad in addition to making multiple media appearances.

Surgical technology holding informational meeting

  The surgical technology program at Pearl River Community College’s Forrest County Center will hold an information session for prospective students from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12.
  The come-and-go session will be in room 119 of the Allied Health Building on the campus at 5448 U.S. 49 South in Hattiesburg.
  Deadline for applying for the class that begins in January is Oct. 1.

FCC ACT boot camp registration is Sept. 6

  The registration deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 6, for the fall ACT Boot Camp at Pearl River Community College’s Forrest County Center.
  The camp will be held on Friday, Sept. 15, for junior and senior high school students preparing for the ACT. Cost is $55 and includes a study guide.
  The camp will be taught by Dr. Jennifer Seal, ACT Prep Specialist and PRCC vice president. She will provide tips and techniques to improve scores.

PRCC to host Lunch and Learn

  POPLARVILLE - Pearl River Community College in cooperation with the Poplarville Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Lunch and Learn meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, in the west dining room of the Bender Cafeteria.
  County supervisors will present a briefing about courthouse annexes and upcoming county projects.
  Tickets are $7 for chamber members and $10 for non-members. Reserve a seat by calling 601 403-1420 or 601 403-1379 or by emailing bwells@prcc.edu.

Cheerleaders ready for football season

  POPLARVILLE - The Pearl River Community College Wildcat cheer squad came back from summer camp with prizes, ribbons and titles.
  The cheerleaders were named one of two Most Improved squads at the Universal Cheerleading Association camp at the University of Alabama. The other was from the University of Mississippi.
   The Wildcats placed third overall in their division and won competitions for their game day and fight song routines. The cheerleaders and mascot also received All-Superior ribbons each of the four days of camp, which was held July 27-30.

Foundation funds Honors lecture series

  POPLARVILLE - A grant from the Lower Pearl River Valley Foundation will allow Pearl River Community College to present two free programs to students and the public during the 2017-18 year.
  The $30,000 grant funds the Dr. William A. Lewis Honors Institute Lyceum Lecture Series, beginning with an Oct. 17 presentation by undersea explorer Dr. Robert Ballard.
