Library classrooms and the FCC Learning Lab are used by many classes at PRCC and meet there on a regular basis. Classes utilize computer-assisted instructional assignments which allows the student to work at his/her own pace.
Garvin H. Johnston Library Classrooms (Poplarville)
• Two classrooms with computer access with white boards and projectors are available upon instructor request at 601-403-1332.
• Resources to supplement many courses taught at PRCC
• Word processing programs including Microsoft Office
• Over 5,000 videos/DVDs used to enhance classes and provide additional instruction.
• Assistive technology including software to magnify and read information from a computer screen, Jaws screen reader, Dragon Naturally Speaking Essentials software which allows dictation to the computer, and Open Book software
• A scanner is available to scan text into an electronic file
• Photoshop Elements and InDesign CS4 available on certain computers
• Mac computers - 2 available which have all of the usually Mac software, as well as, Finale – a software program used by the Music Department
Forrest County Center Learning Lab
• Twenty-seven networked computers that have internet access
• Resources to supplement many courses taught at PRCC
• Skill-building assignments as well as required assignments/quizzes
• Word processing programs including Microsoft Office
• Specialized software available for the Allied Health programs
• Grammar Skills software for all levels of English courses
• On-line testing room with 26 computers dedicated to Mississippi Virtual Community College proctored testing.
