Lady ‘Cats make state-region cut with 4-0 shutout victory over ECCC in quarterfinals

POPLARVILLE --- Pearl River’s women’s and men’s soccer squads face of with archrival Jones County for the third time this season when the two teams vie for semi-final victories in the MACJC-Region 23 Tournament at JCJC in Ellisville.
The Lady Wildcats, 10-4-1 overall, copped their semi-final berth with a 4-0 quarterfinal shutout over East Central Tuesday in Decatur, while the Wildcats, 9-4-1 overall, earned an automatic spot in the semis with its No. 1 finish in the South Division in the regular season.

Lady Wildcats blast Lady Rangers 3-0, Wildcats tie 1-1 in women’s and men’s soccer action in Lafayette, La.

            LAFAYETTE, La. --- Pearl River Community College split with Ranger College (Tex.) in women’s and men’s NJCAA soccer action here Sunday with the Lady Wildcats taking a 3-0 shutout, while the Wildcat and Ranger squads battled to a 1-1 stalemate.
            PRCC’s women improved to 6-2 overall, while its men are now 6-2-1. Ranger’s women dropped to 3-4, while its men are 4-2-2.

PRCC soccer squads fall by identical 1-0 scores

            POPLARVILLE --- Pearl River Community College’s Lady Wildcats fell to Polk State (Fla.) 1-0 in overtime here Thursday, while the Wildcat squad traveled to MACJC non-division rival Hinds in Raymond the same afternoon and dropped at 1-0 decision off a second-half penalty kick.
            In the women’s game, the two teams battled to a 0-0 stalemate during regulation play, but Polk State’s Elyse Fontecchio banged in the game-winning goal during the overtime period.

River sweeps Meridian

            POPLARVILLE --- Pearl River Community College swept Meridian in women’s and men’s MACJC South Division soccer action here Tuesday with the Lady Wildcats taking a 4-1 victory over the Lady Eagles, while the Wildcats were 2-1 winners.
            Chance Bourdene out of Northeast Lauderdale High banged in a goal with 7:10 left to snap a 1-1 stalemate in the men’s game to keep the Wildcats unbeaten at 5-0 in division play, while improving to 6-1 overall. PRCC’s women improved to 4-1 and 4-1. MCC’s women are not 4-5 and 3-2, while its men are 2-7 and 2-3.

River splits with Jones in Saturday ‘Cat Fight

            POPLARVILLE --- Pearl River Community College took over first place in the men’s MACJC South Division soccer derby here Saturday when Chance Bourdene pounded in the game-winning goal in sudden death overtime to propel the home standing Wildcats to a 2-1 victory over Jones County.
            PRCC’s women, on the other hand, fell to the visiting Lady Bobcats 2-0 for their first defeat of the year and handed the JCJC women sole possession of first place in the division.

River blanks Co-Lin in division contests

      WESSON --- Pearl River Community College remains undefeated in women’s and men’s MACJC South Division soccer action after shutting out rival Copiah-Lincoln’s squads here Wednesday.
            The Lady Wildcats improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in division play with their lopsided 10-0 victory, while the Wildcats are now 4-1 and 3-0 after their 3-0 win over the home standing Wolfpack. CLCC’s women remain winless at 0-8 and 0-4, while its men are 1-7 and 0-4.

            SUMMIT --- Pearl River Community College’s women’s and men’s soccer teams remain unbeaten in MACJC South Division play after sweeping Southwest Mississippi here Tuesday with a pair of shut out victories.
            The Lady Wildcats took a 4-0 win to improve to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in division play, while the Wildcats were 5-0 winners and are now 3-1 and 2-0. SMCC’s women dropped to 2-5 and 1-1, while its men are 1-5-1 and 1-1.

            POPLARVILLE --- Pearl River opened its MACJC South Division schedule with a bang against arch-rival Mississippi Gulf Coast here Friday, with the Lady Wildcats taking a 1-0 victory over the Lady Bulldogs, while the Wildcats were 3-1 winners.
            The women’s game, which started an hour late due to lightning threats, was called in the 65th minute due to lightning.
            PRCC’s women improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in division play, while its men are now 2-1 and 1-0. MGCCC’s women dropped to 0-3 and 0-1, while its men fell to 1-3 and 0-1.

The 2014 class of Pearl River Community College women’s soccer signees recently attended a signing day on the PRCC campus in Poplarville.
