The soccer schedule makers were kind to Pearl River Community College, as struggling Copiah-Lincoln paid a visit to the PRCC Sports Complex Friday.
The PRCC women overcame an early deficit and went on to rout Co-Lin 8-1.
The Wildcats were rocked early in their game when they surrendered a goal to the winless Wolves at 14:36.
But freshman Mellie Snyder (Leakesville) tied it at 22:54 on an unassisted goal, then Olivia Moger (Long Beach) put PRCC ahead to stay on a pass from Lauren Craig (Wiggins).
Pearl River added two more goals in the last five minutes of the first half, as Lacey Polderman (Picayune) scored on a pass from Jordan Ahlgren (Long Beach), then Ahlgren found the back of the net two minutes later on an assist by Anna Grace Cooley (Lucedale).
Polderman got her second goal of the game at 60:11, assisted by Kayla Nobles (Hurley), then Snyder assisted Cooley on a goal at 64:48. Snyder got her second goal at 78:01, assisted by Nobles, then played the final four minutes in goal. Craig got the final score at 86:33, as Ahlgren got her secodn assist of the game.
PRCC remained tied with Meridian for third place in the South Division standings, but has a victory in hand over the Eagles, who visit Poplarville next Friday. The Wildcats will play at Southwest next Wednesday.
