Pearl River’s Willis named third-team NJCAA All-America

Darrlyn WillisPOPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College sophomore forward Darrlyn Willis was named as a third-team All-America by the NJCAA, it was announced Friday.
Willis, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Madison, Wis., led the Wildcats to back-to-back MACJC South Division championships and 41 wins in his two seasons with the Wildcats.
“It’s amazing how quickly these two years have passed,” said PRCC head coach Chris Oney.
“He did everything he set out to do here, except win a region championship. He’s had a tremendous amount of success both on and off the court; he’s set to graduate in May, and he’ll do well at the next level.”
Willis, who signed in November to attend Wichita State, averaged 18.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game in leading the Wildcats to a 16-9 record in the 2015-16 season. He finished the season with 15 double-doubles.
