POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College cornerback Tyler Jack has been named Defensive Player of the Week in the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges.
Jack, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound freshman from Lucedale who played at George County High School, was honored for his role in the Wildcats’ stunning 17-9 upset over then-No. 1-ranked Copiah-Lincoln last week at Wesson.
Jack had two critical interceptions to lead a tremendous defensive effort by the Wildcats. His first pick stopped a Co-Lin drive in PRCC territory late in the first half, and he returned the second interception 44 yards for a back-breaking touchdown with 1:57 to play in the game.
He also had five tackles, including two solos. For the season, Jack has 30 tackles, including 24 solos.
The Wildcats will return to action this Thursday night for a South Division game against Mississippi Gulf Coast at Perkinston.
