No. 4-seeded PRCC enters Region 23 Tournament versus top-seeded, second-ranked JCJC

            POPLARVILLE --- Pearl River’s Lady Wildcats enter Region 23 Tournament play Thursday against the second-ranked and MACJC state champ Jones County Lady Bobcats at 6 p.m. in Community Bank Park in Ellisville.
            The contest will mark the second meeting of the squads in less than a week, as JCJC, hosts of the regional event, knocked off PRCC 9-0 (five innings) in both team’s opening game in the MACJC State Tournament last Friday at Itawamba CC in Fulton.
            The Lady Bobcats went on to win the coveted state title on Sunday with a 7-1 win over Mississippi Gulf Coast.
            After their shutout loss to the Jones to open state tournament play, the Lady Wildcats bounced back with a 5-0 elimination victory over host Itawamba Saturday before falling to Gulf Coast 4-3 in a second elimination contest later in the day.
            Regional action kicks off at 4 p.m. Thursday with top-ranked and second-seeded LSU-Eunice (55-2) taking on third-seeded Gulf Coast (35-18) at 4 p.m., followed by the top-seeded Jones (46-2) versus fourth-seeded Pearl River (27-18) contest at 6 p.m.
            The regional championship bout is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.

GAME 1: LSU-Eunice vs. Mississippi Gulf Coast, 4 p.m.
GAME 2: Jones County vs. Pearl River, 6 p.m.
GAME 3: Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2, 1 p.m.
GAME 4: Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2, 3 p.m.
GAME 5: Loser Game 3 vs. Winner Game 5, 5 p.m.
GAME 6: Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 5, 1 p.m. (If needed, a Game 7 will be played immediately afterwards.)
