Men's Soccer vs. Carey

HATTIESBURG – Pearl River Community College opened its 2015 men’s soccer season with a 3-0 exhibition defeat at the hands of William Carey University Saturday at Crusader Field on the WCU campus.

Carey, of the Southern States Athletic Conference, scored one goal in the first half, then two more in the second as they also saw the Crusaders’ first action of the year.

Despite the defeat, Wildcat coach Paul Martin was pleased with his team as it prepares to defend its MACJC state championship from 2014.

“I thought we played very well,” Martin said. “I was very pleased. They’re one of the best teams in their league.”

Sophomore Grant Adam was in goal for PRCC.

The Wildcats – and the Lady Wildcats – open the regular season next Friday with a doubleheader at Itawamba. The women’s game kicks off at 2 p.m., with the men to follow at approximately 4 p.m.
