The Pearl River Community College women got back on the winning track Tuesday night, snapping a three-game losing skid with a 4-0 victory over Hinds in non-division soccer action at the PRCC Sports Complex.
The PRCC women (5-4 overall) peppered the Hinds goal with 46 shots, including 21 on-goal, and had 11 corner kicks for the game.
“We can’t leave shots on the field,” said PRCC coach Jack Byrd. “I feel like that’s what we’ve done the last three games. We’ve been looking for the perfect shot and it winds up being no shot. Tonight, we put the ball on the net and got a good result.”
Freshman Caroline Grafe (Kiln) got the scoring started for the Lady Wildcats at 29:30 of the first half, weaving through the Lady Eagles’ defense for an unassisted goal, her first of the season.
Freshman Lacey Polderman (Picayune) put PRCC ahead 2-0 at 41:41, sticking in a rebound off a save from a corner kick by Mellie Snyder (Leakesville).
Nadia Nelson (Pascagoula) got her first goal of the season at 52:58 of the second half on a pass from Olivia Moger (Long Beach), and Moger finished the scoring at 76:05 with an unassisted goal.
The Lady Wildcats held Hinds (1-7) to just eight shots, three on-goal. Polderman finished with seven shots, two on-goal, Abbi Henderson (Leakesville) had six shots, three on goal, and Snyder and Grafe each had five shots and three shots on goal.
