Lady Wildcats race past Meridian in South Division opener

lacey poldermanPearl River Community College once again spread the scoring wealth around as the Lady Wildcats dominated Meridian 6-0 in the South Division opener Friday at the PRCC Sports Complex.

PRCC improved to 2-0 for the season; Meridian dropped to 0-3-1.

Pearl River scored early and often, as sophomore Lacey Polderman (Picayune) had a goal and an assist, helping freshman Kayley Fountain (Ocean Springs) get the first score of the game less than 10 minutes into the game. 

Sophomore Sarah Walden (Pascagoula) and freshman Sarah Havens (Hurley) also had first-half goals. PRCC got scores in the second half from sophomore Caroline Grafe (Kiln), Polderman and sophomore Mia Richardson (Pascagoula).

As they did in their opener against, Itawamba, the Lady Wildcats peppered the Meridian goal, getting 32 shots, 15 on-goal, led by Polderman, who had 10 shots and 5 on-goal.

PRCC will be back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Perkinston to face Mississippi Gulf Coast. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
