Five MACJC gridiron powers in 2013 NJCAA preseason poll released on Tuesday

            POPLARVILLE --- Five MACJC football powers were ranked in the NJCAA’s 2013 preseason Top 20 poll released Tuesday.
            Leading the way is perennial powerhouse Mississippi Gulf Coast with the nation’s No. 1 ranking, followed by East Mississippi at No. 8, reigning MACJC champion Copiah-Lincoln at No. 9, Hinds at No. 15, and Itawamba at No. 16.
            MGCCC finished sixth in the final 2012 poll with its 9-2 overall record, while Co-Lin finished 14th (9-3), and EMCC 15th (8-3). Hinds (4-5) and Itawamba (6-3) didn’t make the NJCAA’s final poll last season.
            Jones County, which was 6-3 a year ago, received votes in the preseason balloting.
            Snow (Utah) is second in the preseason poll, followed by Narvarro (Tex.), reigning national champ Iowa Western, Butler (Kan.), Hutchinson (Kan.), Kilgore (Tex.), East Miss, Co-Lin, ASA (N.Y.), Arizona Western, Coffeyville (Kan.), Nassau (N.Y.), Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Hinds, Itawamba, Garden City (Kan.), Central Lakes (Minn.), Dupage (Ill.), and Glendale (Ariz.).
            Other teams receiving votes include Tyler (Tex.), Georgia Military, Rochester (N.Y.), and New Mexico Military.
