River splits with Meridian

 Pearl River’s Teddy Scott            POPLARVILLE --- Pearl River Community College split with Meridian in women’s and men’s MACJC South Division basketball action here Monday with the visiting Lady Eagles nipping the Lady Wildcats 63-62 in overtime, while the 15th-ranked Wildcats were 73-62 winners.

East Central splits with Pearl River

            POPLARVILLE --- Pearl River Community College split with East Central in MACJC South Division basketball action here Thursday with the visiting Lady Warriors pounding the Lady Wildcats 75-56, while the Wildcats rebounded from a two-game losing skid with an 82-75 come-from-behind victory.
            The River’s women dropped to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in division play, while its men improved to 13-2 and 4-2. ECCC’s women are now 13-2 and 4-2, while its men are 7-8 and 2-4.

River splits at Perk

Lady Wildcats pull off 49-42 South Division victory, No. 15-ranked Wildcats defeated 80-79 in overtime

            PERKINSTON --- Pearl River Community College split with archrival Mississippi Gulf Coast here Tuesday in women’s and men’s MACJC South Division basketball action with the Lady Wildcats pulling off a 49-42 victory, while the 15th-ranked Wildcats were nipped by the home-standing Bulldogs 80-79 in overtime.

Jones sweeps River

            ELLISVILLE --- Jones County Junior College swept Pearl River in MACJC South Division basketball action here Thursday with the visiting Wildcats falling 70-64 for their first loss of the season, while the scrappy Lady Wildcats fell 65-61.
            PRCC’s 14th-ranked men dropped to 12-1 overall and 3-1 in division play, while its women are now 5-5 and 1-3. JCJC’s 16th-ranked men remain unbeaten at 11-0 and 4-0, while its women are 9-3 and 3-1.

Pearl River 14th in latest NJCAA Division I hoops poll

            POPLARVILLE --- Pearl River Community College’s undefeated Wildcat basketball squad moved up to the No. 14 spot in the NJCAA Division I poll released Tuesday.
Head coach Richard Mathis’ 12-0 squad will face its toughest test thus far into the 2014-2015 season this Thursday when it travels to 16th-ranked and unbeaten South Division rival Jones County --- the reigning NJCAA national champions.

River sweeps Hinds

  Pearl River's Darral Willis goes up for two             POPLARVILLE --- Pearl River Community College swept Hinds in MACJC South Division basketball action here Monday with the Lady Wildcats taking an impressive 58-37 victory, while the 19th-ranked and unbeaten Wildcats prevailed 78-61 against a scrappy Bulldog squad.

River splits at Delta

            MOORHEAD --- Pearl River Community College split with MACJC non-division rival Mississippi Delta here Thursday with the Lady Wildcats falling 51-48, while the No. 19 Wildcats pulled off a 78-62 victory.
PRCC’s women dropped to 5-3 overall, while its men remain undefeated at 11-0. MDCC’s women improved to 3-8, while its men are now 5-6.
            In the women’s game, the host Lady Trojans led 24-18 at the intermission, but Pearl River bounced back with a 30-27 advantage in the second half only to come up four points shy of victory.

Pearl River kicks off New Year with road sweep over Delgado

            NEW ORLEANS, La. --- Pearl River Community College rang in the New Year in grand style here Monday with a sweep over Delgado in women’s and men’s basketball action.
            The Lady Wildcats took a hard-fought 41-39 victory, while the 23rd-ranked and undefeated Wildcats were 72-59 winners. PRCC’s women improved to 5-2 overall, while its men are now 10-0.
            In the women’s game, Pearl River led 23-21 at the half before the two squads battled to an 18-18 stalemate in the second half.

Unbeaten Wildcats move up to No. 23 in latest hoops poll

            POPLARVILLE --- Pearl River Community College’s undefeated men’s basketball team moved up to the No. 23 in the latest NJCAA’s Division I basketball poll released Tuesday.
            The Wildcat squad was ranked No. 25 in Dec. 9’s balloting, marking the first time The River men appeared in the national poll since 2013’s MACJC state championship season. In 2013, the team was ranked as high as No. 12 in that year’s Feb. 12 balloting and wrapped its season at the No. 20 spot.

Unbeaten Wildcats cop spot in latest NJCAA hoops poll

            POPLARVILLE --- Pearl River Community College’s undefeated men’s basketball team copped the No. 25 spot in the latest NJCAA’s Division I basketball poll released Tuesday.
            The Wildcat squad, which last appeared in the national poll in 2013’s MACJC state championship season. The team was ranked as high as No. 12 in that year’s Feb. 12 balloting and wrapped its season at the No. 20 spot.
